On June 13, 2025, the Oeconomicum building at the University of Münster was once again transformed into a central meeting place for students and over 50 renowned companies. This year's Business Contacts career fair was once again all about personal conversations and establishing valuable professional contacts. On the day of the event, a varied supporting program impressed: the popular Career Lunch provided a relaxed atmosphere for conversations with cool drinks and snacks. Despite the high summer temperatures, many interested students found their way to the trade fair tent – and were surprised there not only with exciting insights, but also with numerous gifts, goodies, and even free ice cream from the companies.

‘Welcome to the School of Business and Economics’ is the message for numerous new students this semester. Prof. Dr. Thomas Langer, Dean of the School, welcomed the first-year students during orientation week (O-Woche), which was organised by the WiWi student council and is considered the largest in North Rhine-Westphalia. With 530 new enrolments, the Bachelor's programme in Business Administration has the most enrolments university-wide. The new international students were welcomed by Sina Heidtke from the International Relations Center.

"Herzlich willkommen an der Wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Fakultät" heißt es auch in diesem Semester für zahlreiche neue Studierende. Prof. Dr. Thomas Langer, Dekan der Wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Fakultät, begrüßte die Erstsemester im Rahmen der Orientierungswoche (O-Woche), die von der Fachschaft WiWi organisiert wurde und als größte in NRW gilt. Mit 530 Neuimmatrikulierten verzeichnet der Bachelorstudiengang Betriebswirtschaftslehre die meisten Einschreibungen uniweit.

A major success for the University of Münster at this year’s Enactus World Cup: The project “Seads Solution” from the Enactus team Münster made it into the Top 4 teams worldwide in the global student competition for sustainable entrepreneurship. This marks the second consecutive year that Enactus Germany has placed a team among the world’s Top 4. Reaching the finals alone earned SEADS a prize of 2,000 USD, and in addition, the team won the prestigious “Sufficiency Economy Philosophy” (SEP) Award, presented by main sponsor Thai Beverage, worth 9,100 USD, which will now be invested in the project.

Großer Erfolg für die Universität Münster beim diesjährigen Enactus World Cup: Das Projekt „Seads Solution“ des Enactus Teams Münster hat es beim globalen Studierendenwettbewerb für nachhaltiges Unternehmertum unter die besten vier Teams der Welt geschafft. As part of the VIP programme of the School of Business and Economics, Prof. Samir Chatterjee and Prof. Alan Hevner will now be strengthening the research and teaching activities of the Institute for Information Systems. Samir Chatterjee is a professor at the Centre for Information Systems & Technology at Claremont Graduate University. Alan Hevner is a professor at the School of Information Systems and Management at the Muma College of Business at the University of South Florida. 

Im Rahmen des VIP-Programms der Wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Fakultät werden ab sofort Prof. Samir Chatterjee und Prof. Alan Hevner die Forschung und Lehre des Instituts für Wirtschaftsinformatik verstärken. Samir Chatterjee ist Professor am Center for Information Systems & Technology der Claremont Graduate University, Alan Hevner Professor an der School of Information Systems and Management am Muma College of Business an der University of South Florida.

Was kann das bedingungslose Grundeinkommen leisten? Fördert unser Steuersystem soziale Ungleichheit? Und gilt der Grundsatz "einmal arm - immer arm"? Diese Fragen erläutern Wirtschaftswissenschaftler:innen im Rahmen der öffentlichen Online-Ringvorlesung, zu der die Kontaktstelle Studium im Alter der Universität Münster gemeinsam mit Lehrenden verschiedener Fachrichtungen einlädt. Unter dem Titel „(Un)gerecht? Eine interdisziplinäre Auseinandersetzung mit sozialer Ungleichheit“ finden montags von 16 bis 18 Uhr Veranstaltungen über Zoom statt.

On September 17 and 18, 2025, the second bootcamp of the EU-funded CURATE project took place at REACH – EUREGIO Start-up Center in Münster. The bootcamp was led by Prof. Tobias Brandt and Shariga Sivanathan from the Chair of Digital Innovation and the Public Sector.

Students from the partner universities Haaga-Helia (Finland), MCI The Entrepreneurial School (Austria), Université Côte d'Azur (France), and the Technical University of Košice (Slovakia) came together to present their final challenge pitches to corporate partners, experts, and their mentors.

Am 17. und 18. September 2025 fand das zweite Bootcamp im Rahmen des EU-geförderten CURATE-Projekts im REACH – EUREGIO Start-up Center in Münster statt. Geleitet wurde das Bootcamp von Prof. Tobias Brandt und Shariga Sivanathan vom Lehrstuhl für Digitale Innovation und der öffentliche Sektor.

In part 21 of the Alumni Stories, we feature Prof. Dr. Ann-Marie Nienaber, who studied Business Administration at the University of Münster and also earned her doctorate there. After positions as a postdoctoral researcher and as the City of Münster’s Commissioner for Science, her path led her via a professorship in Witten/Herdecke to the United Kingdom, where she has held the Chair of Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour at Coventry University since 2017. In October, she will move to Technische Universität Braunschweig to establish the new Chair of Business Ethics. Her research focuses primarily on trust, communication, innovation, and sustainability, as well as the ethical implications of artificial intelligence.

In Teil 21 der Alumni Stories porträtieren wir Prof. Dr. Ann-Marie Nienaber, die an der Universität Münster Betriebswirtschaftslehre studierte und dort auch promovierte. Nach Stationen als Postdoktorandin und Wissenschaftsbeauftragte der Stadt Münster führte ihr Weg über eine Professur in Witten/Herdecke nach Großbritannien, wo sie seit 2017 an der Coventry University den Lehrstuhl für Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour innehat. Im Oktober wechselt sie an die Technische Universität Braunschweig, um dort den neuen Lehrstuhl für Wirtschaftsethik aufzubauen. In ihrer Forschung widmet sie sich vor allem Fragen des Vertrauens, der Kommunikation, Innovation und Nachhaltigkeit sowie den ethischen Implikationen von Künstlicher Intelligenz.
